Where will the carts be stored before the event?

The carnival carts will breakdown into 2 – 3 parts before leaving Bridgwater on Saturday night. They then travel to Burnham where they will be sent down one of two routes:
1. Via Burnham Road turning right at Pepperall Road and on to Frank Foley Parkway.
2. Via Queens Drive
The procession will move as per usual throughout the town. When the carts pass the finish line they will turn left onto Pepperall Road/Frank Foley Parkway to de-assemble before moving off.

Why are you shutting roads days before the event starts?

Once Bridgwater carnival has finished the carts will be sent to us for storage until our event on Monday night. To store these vehicles we need to find sufficient space (just over 1 mile of road). This often causes inconvenience to the public for which we must apologise and ask for your patience and co-operation.

Do you have permission to shut all these roads?

We have submitted traffic plans under either the Town and Police Clauses Act, 1886 or under the Road Traffic Act to Sedgemoor District Council and Somerset County Highways. Before submitting plans we had several meetings with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) to discuss possible issues and reasoning for choosing the line-up/route of our carnival.
Official documents can be provided from the relevant authorities upon request.
